Blue Penny International, Atlanta, GA  (2003–2004)                                                  
Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of this staff augmentation and ERP consulting firm. Managed business development, finances, operations, human resources, and subcontractors. Built this company from the ground up to a profitable operation in its first year.

Consulting Engagements:

07/03-09/03: Designed and implemented the release management infrastructure and procedures for a PeopleSoft CRM implementation at a large wireless provider.


Precision e-Consulting LLC, Atlanta, GA  (2002–2003; 2004 - Present)                                                
VP of Professional Services and leader of the Technology and Management Consulting practice. Responsible for profitable delivery of engagements, quality assurance, business development, contractor management, and alliance management.

Recent engagements:

09/02-Present: Conducting the cost/benefit analysis for a client’s CRM/sales force automation solution. The client is an international manufacturer of latex products for the consumer and professional health care markets.

03/02–08/02: Quality Assurance lead in a SAP pre-deployment audit and system optimization project for a large manufacturer of consumer goods. Subsequently managed the requirements analysis for that client’s deployment of SAP B/W.

 

Arthur Andersen LLP - Business Consulting, Zurich & Atlanta (1993–2002)

1993 - Joined Arthur Andersen as a consultant in Zurich, Switzerland
1996 - Promoted to Manager; leader of the Advanced Technology Group in Switzerland
1997 - Transfer to the North American Advanced Technology Group; director of the groupware practice
1998 - Transfer to the southeast region Business Consulting practice; focus on e-business program management

Most recently led projects with consulting budgets up to $4.5 million, delivering complex business intelligence, content management, workflow, and B2B commerce solutions. Led teams of 30 or more managers, consultants, sub-contractors, and client personnel.
Other important responsibilities included strategy and business plan development for new practice areas, business development, proposal & contract development, outsourcing & contractor monitoring, vendor alliance management, internal training and recruiting.

Select Engagements:                 

05/00-12/01: Managed the technical implementation of an Internet marketplace serving the European construction industry. Subsequently led the software selection and implementation of a similar commerce hub serving the North American newspaper industry. Supervised the following work streams:

  • Business process analysis & design, functional & technical requirements specification
  • System architecture, sizing and scalability planning, implementation
  • Evaluation & selection of ASPs, hardware, and software platforms, SLA monitoring
  • Software development/customization (standards used: J2EE, XML)
  • Configuration management, testing, roll-out preparation, training, and documentation
  • Catalog development and migration
  • Buyer and supplier integration and associated change management
  • Both sites, their supporting processes and organizations were ready in less than 100 days. 

06/99-10/00: Andersen, Chicago IL – Program Manager for the global deployment of a ‘balanced scorecard’ performance management application, consisting of these sub-projects:

  • Application Development (VB, C++, Java developers, DBAs)
  • Connectivity & infrastructure deployment
  • Data warehousing component and numerous legacy system integration sub-projects
  • Desktop compatibility, software quality, user acceptance, and load testing
  • Documentation, scheduling of world-wide training and deployment
  • System support and ownership transition
  • The final solution supports drill-down reporting, analysis by partner, geography, and practice.

06/99-09/99: Led the post-merger analysis of two ISVs’ lead management and sales tracking systems. The final report delivered to the client outlined recommendations for strategic and tactical changes in the lead management process, and consolidation of all sales force automation into a single system around standardized processes.

12/98-05/99: Managed a process review and re-engineering project to address an RBOC’s non-compliance with FCC regulations. Participated in the requirements analysis and led the software evaluation and design specification for a workflow system that would eliminate process delays and breakdowns. Rollout of the system accelerated the provisioning of contracts and provided for a comprehensive audit log for each contract. The client saved millions of Dollars in FCC fines and averted revocation of their operating license in one state.

01/98-05/98: Developed on behalf of an ISV the methodology, project plans, and support processes for orchestrating thousands of mini-projects. The client’s objective was to deploy online storefronts with transaction capability to small businesses around the country. Each 2-day project encompassed setup and population of product catalogs, integration with the online payment processor, and back-end integration with an accounting package.

04/96-08/97: Program Manager for the global deployment of Lotus Notes at Switzerland’s premier investment bank and a major re-insurance group. Deployed the initial server and gateway infrastructure, trained administrators, developed replication architectures, operating standards and procedures. Simultaneously rolled-out e-mail, collaboration, and workflow applications to thousands of desktops on 5 continents. At the end of these engagements the project team was contracted to manage the client’s infrastructure operations while helping them with the recruitment of qualified operations managers and system administrators.

Partner in a computer retail business (part-time), responsible for marketing, sales, and installation of custom-built workstation and server systems.

 

University of St. Gallen & Digmar AG, St. Gallen, Switzerland (1990–1992)                                                                                                       
Consultant and software engineer in this marketing and interactive media agency (a spin-off from the university’s Institute of Marketing and Retailing), leading requirements definition, design, and user interface prototyping for computer based training (CBT) applications and bank ATMs. Developed interactive CBT programs for electrical-discharge machining (EDM). Technical lead in a study analyzing the threat of video-conferencing to the airline business.
 

IBM Switzerland, Lucerne Branch (1990)                                                                                                         
Internship – Developed an asset management solution for IBM’s internal use, utilizing DB2.
